Catch Up

Spent most of the day catching up on sleep. I had great fun while my visitors were in town, but it's been a long time since I stayed up until the middle of the night, especially two nights in a row, and I struggled to get back into a normal sleep pattern. It rained on and off all day, so I don't suppose I missed too much.

I had to go into work today. This required an initial visit lasting about one hour followed, six hours later, by another twenty minute visit. This is the sky after my initial forray to work, when I left to return home. There I watched some TV (NCIS, Covert Affairs, and Royal Pains) while I assembled my new desk. I'll post a photo of it tomorrow.

I seem to forget many important life lessons. The two I relearned lately: a small but complete break from my job is all that is required for me to attack it with renewed vigor - and I need to allow myself that; and, "trust but verify" is bad advice - it is much better to verify obsessively in a preemptive strike and save the frustration of troubleshooting after the fact.

Nevertheless, sometimes my smile is the source of my joy. At least today.
