Just What I Was Looking For...
"To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common--this is my symphony."
~William Henry Channing
As promised, my new desk. I have been looking for something to replace the desk I bought years ago on the cheap, as it no longer works for me as well as it once did. This is mostly due to the layout of my current apartment combined with my upcoming marathon: AKA writing my dissertation.
For the price (including free delivery) my new desk is everything I had wanted and nothing I didn't. I am quite happy at having found just what I was looking for - something both utilitarian and attractive.
It provide more storage space with the cabinet and CD rack above the surface than I had before. The best part, however, is the L-shape, which leaves me with more room to spread out my papers and such when I am working at the computer - something my current setup completely lacks. Thus, I usually spend many a day and night in front of my work computer where things are more ergonomically practical. Once I hook everything up in the new space I am hopeful that will be eliminated and I can spend more time working at home.
There is beauty and elegance in the simple solution. It was worth the wait. And that, my friends, is oft unappreciated.
