CSA discoveries
I realized today that what I thought were turnips in my CSA box were actually watermelon radishes! I was totally fooled by the size of these suckers . . . and they look nothing like the small cherry tomato-sized radishes I'm used to.
I ended up cutting one up and putting it in our salad. Both Ron and I liked the unique flavor - sort of sweet in the middle and slightly spicy on the outside. It added a nice kick to the leafy greens and a touch of color.
I was pretty proud of myself tonight when I made pesto from scratch with the rest of the basil I had (that's what's in the green bowl). It turned out AMAZING. And it was so easy! I'm totally making it again! I served it over four-cheese tortellini with a little bit of shredded cheese on top. There is no doubt that I will use the Food Network recipe again, especially when having guests over. It's a dish that took 15 minutes to make but looks way more impressive than that!
