hard rain
Hard rain and hail from the north last night left rain drops on our window panes this morning. They add their own dimension to this picture, but it will take some words to flesh that out....
The neighbor whose land you glimpse here is set on a course to lose it all. He's not paid his taxes since January. Unless he changes, which does not seem likely, his land will be sold at public auction at the end of August. I won't go into great detail about his thought processes, but he's been quite public about his beliefs, shouting them out at the top of his voice for hours at a time and writing them out by hand on his house, his vehicles and a multitude of signs on his fences.
Some neighbors have grown tired of all that and called the Sheriff on him. Deputies have, indeed, come out, but only to tell him to keep it down. Some others of us have listened for hours and hours and tried to talk and reason with him. Neither approach has been effective.
He doesn't pay taxes because taxes fund the government, the government makes wars and wars kill innocent people. Everyone who pays taxes, therefore, is a murderer and worse. God will judge him and send him to hell. Governments don't do anything that's good ~ they should just leave us alone All they do is to take away what God has given us: freedom and the land. Their hospitals and doctors and western medicine are unnecessary, even after significant traumas, because if you really believe in God you can heal yourself. The Bible lies. God's judgement is based exclusively on the Universal Law of Karma.
He's not worried about the police or losing his property, he says. One of his rants is that those who tell the truth have always been betrayed and have suffered, just as had happened to him with Judas. He's ready for it to happen to him again, and he expects it. Another is that earthquakes and great disasters in our area are imminent and the end of the world will come before the end of the summer. He, himself, will make it happen.
We're not family and there's not much we can do about it. We hope it'll all end with his getting help.
It's a dreadful waste.
