Reflections
There are some days when so much happens you wonder how it fitted in to just one day.
There was such a big high and low point today. Luckily it ended on a high which is where this picture was taken - at the 30th birthday party of one of my very best friends. Sitting in the garden surrounded by twinkling candles, we laughed, joked and ate lots of cake and drank far too much prosecco which was a wonderful and fitting celebration.
But it would be remiss if I didn't include the fact that today was the funeral of someone I was enormously fond of. And as I sat in the church, with tears rolling down my face, listening to the tributes of his two daughters I realised one or two very important truths about life and the importance of kindness and caring about others as well as the difference just one person can make to the lives of more than 150 other mourners all packed into a church - sad to have to say goodbye to someone so special.
So I guess today was about celebrating and making the most of life - landmark birthdays and the joy a new birth brings to a family as well as the impact of 68 years of life on a room full of people who will miss them very, very much.
