Parkhead

Day 2 of our bike ride and it was an overcast day until the evening. This sculpture is at Parkhead, a popular stopping off point for cyclists and walkers doing the C2C. This is where the Waskerley Way begins, a high level cycle/walk way across the moors following the route of the old railway track from the high level mines to the steelworks at Consett. After a day and a half of slog up steep inclines, it came as some relief to cover the last five miles to the Bed and Breakfast at Bee Cottage on the level!
