Fairytale castle

Today we set off from beautiful Albi to explore the historical sites of the Cathars, in the Languedoc region. In the late afternoon we stopped by in Narbonne and Beziers, but the main highlight of the day was a visit to Carcassonne.

Although hordes of tourists completely clog the tiny streets inside the city walls, on the outside you can wander freely and get a great feeling for how imposing the fortifications are. To me this is proper storybook architecture :)
