Welcome to the World

This morning was Liam and Landon's 1st Saturday School of the new year. We went to the school and split up....Gary went to Liam's class and I went to Landon's class. Landon's class is probably the youngest class they've had at the school before. About 75% of them are still 4 years old, turning 5 soon. So the new teacher has her work cut out for her! We learned the rules of her classroom today and I got signed up to work in the classroom once a week. Luckily, our class size is still alot lower than most of the schools in our area that are dealing with budget crunches & increased class sizes. Ours only increased from 20 to 22 students at this grade level to keep art/music/storytelling. I'm thinking the younger students are enrolled for exactly the same reasons---pushing them into school earlier to eliminate the costs of preschool in this crazy economy. I certainly know I have a deadline of October to have Landon up to par with letters/phonics before spelling words and sentences hit him. He has been much more resistant to learning from me than Loren and Liam were, he just prefers to be busy, busy, busy...so I need to find a way to reach him and create a desire to learn in a fun way. I think I'm going to have to forgo the flashcards and find newer and better computer programs instead!

Liam's class created a family puzzle and a class puzzle with each of their family's photos on it to display in the hallway. On each piece the kids had to write adjectives that best describe their family. It signifies all the students, parents & teachers coming together as separate parts to make a unified whole. I'm sure it will look great and I'll most likely blip that :D

Tonight we dropped all 3 boys off at their Nana and Papa's house for a movie night/sleepover. They were looking forward to it. When Gary & I left, we headed over to the hospital to visit our friends who had twin boys two days ago. I was excited to hold and cuddle the cute little bundles of joys. I took a bunch of pictures, and couldn't pick just one for my blip so I went with a photo collage.

When we left the hospital, we tried out an Indian restaurant that a friend recommended to us. It was delicious and we were pleased that we tried it and plan to return again with the kids. We always like to get the kids to try new foods, and from years of stressing it, they tend to be pretty good at trying things at least once. We went to see 'Inception' afterwards. It was a good movie but it was pretty hard to follow, mainly because I hadn't slept the night before due to our neighbors. They had me up until 3 AM when they decided to move in very late and then start construction the same night with POWER TOOLS! Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking!
