Bring me my chariot of fire...
The urban landscape! A familiar scene!
Let us pause for a second in admiration of Mr Sylvan Goldman, who owned the Humpty Dumpty Supermarket in Oklahoma City. He was a bit of a mover and a shaker, Mr Goldman, and he was ever keen to improve the shopping experience of his customers - so they would always return to Humpty Dumpty's for their daily needs.
One night in 1936 Sylvan sat pondering this problem - and looking at a wooden folding chair he got the notion to fit a basket onto the chair, and fit wheels to the legs. He dashed out and grabbed his handyman - Fred Young - and between them, with a bit of imagination and ingenuity, they invented one of the most familiar artefacts of the last 100 years.
$800 million of these go missing each year! Why? Who can tell!
