The humble loaf

I've probably rambled on about bread before - the magic of taking flour, water and salt, mixing it up and waiting until it turns itself into bread. I like it at this stage when it's just ready to go in the oven. With a nice moist sheen on it and looking all puffed up and springy.

Actually, this had gone a little too far - a bit too risen, the gluten starting to break down and in danger of collapsing when it's slashed for the oven. But it was OK.

An early one for me - off to the Edinburgh blipmeet tonight and this saves me feeling like I need to take a photo of someone on the High Street to fill a space. Now i can ignore them.
