Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Road Trip Day #4

We left Santa Cruz at the top of the Monterey Bay to drive north along the coast to San Francisco.

Besides the spectacular coastline, we veiwed numerous things as we drove past Bonnie Doon Road, Davenport, Pescadero, Half Moon Bay, Devil's Slide (and the new highway being tunneled through the mountain there to eliminate the slide area), Daly City, Golden Gate Park, and so on. Then the views within San Francisco were tremendous, but we have the next couple days to blip the city views. So what captured our attention the most while on the road was the lighthouse.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse is one of California's Youth Hostels. A number of years ago we bicycled twice from San Francisco home to southern California and each time we did an overnight at the lighthouse. So the place holds special memories for us.

If I were a connoisseur of photography, I would go to great pains to make these three views of the lighthouse level and symmetrical, but because I am backblipping this by about 14 hours (because Mr. Fun hogged my laptop last night) today (Saturday) we have a beautiful city to see, to taste, and to experience. So the photos are not award winning or magazine worthy, but they permanently record the day and the place for the two of us. My hope is that they also give you a sense of this historical magnificent 115-foot lighthouse and keeper's quarters on the rugged California coast.

Now, these two southern Californians have a beautiful northern city to see.
