Around the Bay in 1 Day
This is the view from our room this evening. It's the absolute last photo I've taken today and I've taken dozens of them -- traveling across a fogged-in Golden Gate Bridge this morning exiting San Francisco; the cook at the breakfast café in Sausalito where we stopped for our morning meal; the view of the San Francisco Bay from Tiburon, the view again of that famous Bridge from the east side of the bay, the view of The City from the Berkeley Marina, and finally wind surfers just off the shore of Alameda, but frankly, none of the photos tickled my fancy.
I stared at my computer screen wondering how I could have traveled so many miles today, but not have a photo that I wanted to blip. Does anyone identify?
Then just a moment ago, from the comfort of our room, we watched a small water craft sail by as we sat here with the door wide open. It was just a little fishing boat, but its image viewed through the pine tree was nothing less than serene. I grabbed the camera and hopefully captured something that resembled what we were seeing. I also think it is symbolic of our one week vacation -- we went fishing for pleasurable days and reeled in more than we could have imagined.
Today has been tremendous . . . my eyes are full. Tomorrow morning we'll drive to the airport to return our rental car and then to the terminal to check-in and within a couple hours we will be home again in southern California. Our road trip will have concluded, but our vacation will not be over.
Summer is about to be over with classes at the college beginning soon, but we're going to sip slowly these last few days to savor August moments. We'll return to the shore's edge at Laguna Beach to permanently capture the final paragraph of summer 2010.
Thank you for checking in with us. We appreciate the meaningful comments and the well wishers. This is an amazing community.
Good night from San Francisco Bay.
