PROJECT MORRINHO: SOUTHBANK CENTRE FAVELA
After work, me and the Dream Team (Alex, Chandni, Lisa and Penny) went out for dinner at Las Iguanas, a South American themed restaurant. The food was lovely and we had a lot of fun.
By the time we left, it was dark and it was easier to make out the mini favela that had been created using bricks and lights. Project Morrinho is a social project by young people from Rio de Janeiro, and they take their inspiration from the landscape, architecture and day to day life of the favelas that span the city.
I visited Rio last year - it is an amazing city, and the sights, such as Sugar Loaf Mountain and the statue of Christ the Redeemer are breathtaking. There are even tours to the favelas...
The structure at the Southbank forms a part the Festival Brazil, and will remain there until 5 September.
