True Focus
Backblipping photos I couldn't post during my recent trip to New York City, in the absence of internet connection.
Walking from Battery Park to Trinity Church, just a couple blocks from Ground Zero -- moshed between financiers and their staff on lunch-rush-break on the streets and the thoughts of the great loss in life, innocence, and confidence nine years ago -- my eldest and I go sit in the church. And are showered with soft light fractured through these glorious altar windows. It is like soul-balm after seeing the tortured limbs of the tree blasted apart when the buildings exploded, now immortalized as a sculpture outside the church entrance.
I borrow my daughter's camera and, not knowing how to use it (it's far more complex than mine), this is what happened. And I love it. It seems perfect. My painter's background and eye thrill to this soft shower of rainbow glows and my spirit finds timelessness and peace for a while.
