My Lensbaby
I must be gradually wearing down the resistance because it took hardly any persuasion at all to get Mandy's co-operation with the Lensbaby portrait experiment.
I can't decide. I really like the expression and the other bits of processing but I can't decide if I'd like this more without the Lensbaby look. This is the most extreme photo that I liked, taken with none of the aperture disks in so almost nothing is in any kind of focus. But it creates a nice sense of movement, implying that she was having such a good time getting her photo taken that she couldn't keep still.
Using the f4 disk you can get a good sharp spot, which with more practice I suspect I could get focused on the eyes (or at least one eye), with the softness and blurring fanning out from there quite pleasantly.
Later: I think I'm getting somewhere with this. The f8 disk gives a nice sharp focal point, which in this one I've managed to get onto her eyes. You get nice edge blurring but a mainly sharp face. I think with some localised sharpening around the eyes, this would really nice.
