Against the current

Went to the supermarket tonight and thought I'd pop down to the canal where I had previously seen the geese ( this one ).

The water was flowing very fast (from right to left) and all of the ducks (a dozen or so) were trying to stay put by paddling against the flow. I could only imagine how fast their little feet must have been moving under water!

Every so often they would (perhaps for a rest?) let the water carry them, then they would start paddling again..
