Family Dog

Road Trip

We'll soon be on the road again for another Family Dog camping trip.

This time we're headed to the depths of adventure- to a land not yet explored by this hardy family nor any other that I've heard of. In fact it could be said that the Family Dog are the first ever to set foot on the rugged and unruly terrain of...

Dumfries & Galloway

I know, I know. I can almost hear your sharp intake of breath as you think to yourself 'can they pull this off?' and then I can sense your comforting nod as you chastise yourself for doubting the Family Dog's ability 'If any family can do this', you correct yourself, 'the Family Dog can'.

Tis true. Where only history has stepped before, we Cornwalls will tiptoe to set up our wild camp with only the bare essentials. Our mission - to be at one with nature, to blend in with the beautiful scenery and to fade completely into the background of Mother Nature herself.

Yep, just mother nature and the 3 of us, the car, the stereo and Lidl's bag of tapes, the huge Ikea bag of bedding, the air beds, the travel cot, the table, the 1980s picnic chairs, the gas stove, the 2 food bags, the cool box, the washing up tub, the trangia, the head torch - you know, the absolute essentials. And housing all this shite vitally important bric-a-brac is the one and onlyMonstrosity 3000 - the 'Brutous Hideous Maximus' of the tent world.

Ah well, we only intend to do a couple of nights wild camping and then we're hot footing it down to the Lakes, so we'll only be the Eyesore for a wee while.

Anyone got any Dumfries based tips? We're thinking of heading to Loch Doon or Loch Dee...tell me what you know, good people!
