The last night
In Russia.
Last night of the cruise after a day out at sea, impossibly windy, finally able to feel some freshness in the air as we sail at speed towards Dover. The sweltering Baltic temperatures we have experienced for 12 days seem far behind us.
An invitation has arrived (I check to see if the other state rooms have a sweet little card like ours outside our door and it appears not) for a Meet & Greet. After the Disney theatre production tonight, we walk into a room where a select group of families have gathered, our connection being we are raising children with special needs. It is hard then to describe the joy of seeing all the Disney characters spill into the room. I'm particularly taken with Snow White (Reuben teaches her how to sign her name and I think in turn she's tickled by this) and then find myself conversing with Peter Pan about how cool it must be to fly. So true to character in their conversations, it's most alarming! They have all come to know Reuben and Callum throughout the cruise, though I might add that it wasn't the full on experience you would expect (dread). Seeing the characters was a treat, helped to teach my boys confidence, made them laugh, had Reuben in stitches with excitement rubbing his nose as he does in the process, Callum shrieking.
What a wonderful treat and how special we feel walking out into the foyer to see 1000 other passengers waiting for their own less intimate Meet & Greet.
Photo purchased for use and then required heavy post processing by me so I can take a tiny bit of credit here, not much, just a tiny bit.
