Today's the day ................... to go for an evening stroll

Lovely evening, so went for a stroll on Scout Scar, a limestone ridge not far from Kendal............. where brokenbanjo found his juvenile adder the other day. It is such a fantastic place to be especially when the skies are clear because you have an almost 360 degree view of the Lake District mountains, Arnside and beyond to Morecambe Bay, the start of the Pennines, the Howgill Fells and much more.

There's a little domed shelter, known as the Mushroom which has all these landmarks marked on the inside of the roof. If you stand in the middle, you can match up what you see outside with the detail on the ceiling and work out what they all are. It was built in 1912 to commemorate the Coronation of King George V - but was refurbished in 2002.

I'm sure there would have been a wonderful sunset to be seen up there later on, but sorry fellow blippers, that will have to wait for another evening! I was too hungry and supper called .................
