An Uncalm Sea, but Prosperous Voyage

Returning Home!

Last Blip of this particular episode of French Leave. This is the final leg of the journey before we drive on the left again.

The sky was a wonderful blue, with only a small amount of cloud. But the winds were, according to the captain of our ferry, "approaching or at gale force", and we were warned that we might be subject to "moderate rolling" as we left the harbour mouth! Children were cleared from the outside decks, but your correspondent thought it was rather enjoyable in the wind and sun.

Here you see the view from inside Boulogne harbour, with the sea breaking right over the walls. It was, however, quite hard to stand steady enough for photography even inside the harbour. Many of my shots ended up as fine pictures of the deck or the boat railings... Once through the harbour mouth, the winds really hit us. With the howling winds and the boat both listing heavily to one side and rolling, it was truly difficult to walk from one place to another.
