Apple Circle

We've got a bumper crop of apples this year...nearly ready for a chutney and crumble making frenzy. Our house is part of a circle of 24 houses from the 1930s, whose back gardens all meet in the middle of the circle. Originally every garden had its own apple tree. Most of them have been cleared away, but I'm very glad that ours is still there. It's not the prettiest apple tree - very wizened and bumpy, but the blossom is beautiful and the apples are delicious. Hooray for the apple tree.
