Celebrating!!!
When I first met him, he was a young boy, restless, carefree, foot-loose.
We were raised just miles from one another, but worlds apart.
His family was whole; mine was broken.
As a little guy he traveled local roads in the back of his dad's Porsche. I traveled the nation in a Chrysler, on the Amtrak, and in a campervan.
He loved ten-speed bicycles, music, surfing, and sports cars. I loved sunbathing on the sandy shore, hanging with my girlfriends, and dancing.
He knew no strangers; loved people, joking around, and talking. I was shy, afraid of people, enjoyed watching and preferred listening.
We hardly knew each other when we said "I do." Had no idea of the huge definition behind those two little words.
We were told there was a destination, a journey, but not given a map. We've been navigating together for years.
Even though the house is messy, the bills need to be paid, and this morning the bed didn't get made, we're celebrating. Whenever possible we celebrate the 29th. Today, I'm celebrating life with him.
Wherever you are, I hope you are celebrating.
Good night from Southern California.
