Exciting Day
The day here was so exciting that the grasshopper stood still long enough to pose from several different directions.
Seriously, this has been a stay-at-home chill-out day. I worked some on school prep (the new semester begins Monday and I will teach on Tuesday/Thursday). Meantime, Mr. Fun was downstairs scrolling through lots of old videos. He's hoping to put together a video/slide-show of his brother (who passed away a month ago) to give to our niece and nephew. He's discovering that he should have labeled better. He has real film and digital capture.
Late in the afternoon we decided to stop the film editing and the school prep and to just step outside to enjoy the wonder of the backyard. This little guy showed-up and strutted his stuff. We're certain he was showing off.
One other thing happened this morning: the tree trimmers arrived next door to do some work and knocked on our door to offer their services. It seemed like a good idea. We had several trees that needed some trimming. By the time they left, I was on the verge of rage. They didn't "trim" the eucalyptus tree on the fountain side of the house, they butchered it. I could understand doing that late in October or November, but not now. We've still got lots of summer weather coming our way and that tree offered lots of refreshing shade. Grrrrrrrr. Mr. Fun reminded me it was like a bad haircut; it'll grow back. That thought didn't soothe me.
So the rendezvous with the grasshopper (or as we call them here "hopper grasser") was a light-hearted moment. (Late edit: I meant "hop grasser")
That's it from our "naked tree" residence in Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
P.S. This is entry number 600 (a non-blip birthday), plus I still need to upload the final day of family camp from back in July. So I'm having my own private celebration of 600, glasses of champagne and red balloons are throughout the house. If you believe that, you really do think I'm crazy or "Rosie"! and that's okay with me.
