Mountain slates

We went to Hérépian this morning to buy plants for the garden. It's less than 20 kilometres from here and there are vines, olives and fruit trees growing along the Orb valley, but the mountains begin here. In winter the climate is much harsher than ours, so the walls of the church and many of the houses are faced with slate to protect against the rain and even snow. It reminds me a bit of north Wales, .... well, maybe not because the light is so different and it wasn't raining this morning.
