Harpoon Harrys

Another great restaurant find, this one in Huntington Beach, CA. Right on Hwy 101 at Sunset Beach sits Harpoon Harry's Restaurant. Our server told me it has been in existance since the 70s and is now located on the southwest corner of Broadway and the PCH.

The variety of decorations start on the outside as is evident from this photo and carry through to all parts of the restaurant and bar. We had a late lunch in the bar, less than a dozen tables half occupied. The waiter knew most by name. The guy at the table behind us drove up from Carlsbad just to have the $10 T-bone special. With a recommendation like that, I had to follow suit. I was not disappointed by the meal or the ambiance.

Places like these are exactly what my wife and I hoped we would find as we travel Southern California following our volleyball playing daughter. We cannot wait for the next game to discover another funky restaurant.
