Blagovest.

Tonight we have had a concert at church by the Russian singing ensemble 'Blagovest'. They are magnificent singers and sing unaccompanied. Half the programme is sacred Russian music and the other half is folk music, including 'Troika' which gets everybody clapping!

They have been 2-3 times before and this is the third time I have enjoyed their performance.

The singers aren't always the same and under the terms of their visas they are not allowed to charge for their performances. So they stay with volunteers in the locality and sell Russian crafts - hence the 'Matryoshka' doll -and take a retiring collection to fund their tour.

They are at venues all over England and Wales (they started out in Jersey on the 1st) throughout September finishing in Wales (Llanelian) on the 29th.
Go and see them if you get a chance.
Having bought the doll I had to quickly take the blip in the interval, the candle lit windows made me think how we are now heading towards Christmas!!
