Thistle Down

Ske-addle

When night was cold,
My mother often said.
Just wrap you up a "Flat-Iron",
And ske-addle off to bed.

Let your feet rest snuggly,
And keep them good and warm.
For I can hear loud winds,
That's coming with the storm.

Let slumber be long and sweet,
And wrap you in a dream.
Think softly of the morning,
When you walk beside the stream.

Ask God to walk above you,
And help you in his sight.
That breath might keep its rhythm,
And take you through the night.

And when you think in coming years,
Remember how she said.
"Just wrap you up a Flat-Iron, Honey",
And ske-addle off to bed.
