Lobster Festival

We spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the Original Long Beach Lobster Festival. Rainbow Lagoon Park in Long Beach, CA is overtaken by hundreds of lobster-loving, music-enjoying families and individuals.

In talking with the Bristol Farms lobster cookers we found they cook 7,000 lobsters over the course of the three days - 200 at a time. This photo shows the end of the cooking process. Seventeen minutes after immersing live Maine lobsters in one of the two huge copper kettles, they are raised from the kettle and dumped into a serving basket, ready to satisfy those waiting patiently in the long dinner line.
