Our Daily Bread

This is the first loaf of bread I have ever made - well, I didn't make it exactly, it was baked courtesy of a breadmaker someone kindly gave me. It is a perfect texture, smells heavenly and tastes divine!

After years of eating French sticks - which are basically empty of anything but calories, or buying wholemeal sliced commercial bread that never goes stale and smells of chemicals, I started to wish for "real" bread, and the angels must've been listening. One of our friends picked the breadmaker up for me in a car boot sale in the UK and brought it over for me as an early birthday present.

This slice was still warm when I slathered butter on it and fought with Barry over it like a ravening dog!
