Peace Arch

Lots of rainy day refection photos, but driving home from the island, crossing the Canadian/American border, I got this blip through the car window in between windshield wiper blades. The Peach Arch was dedicated in 1921 to commemorate the centennial (1814-1914) Of the signing of the Treaty of Ghent, which ended the War of 1812 between The US and Great Britain and included many Canadians. it is many acres of beautiful park and plantings and if it wasn't such a wet day,there would be hordes of tourists posing for pictures in front of the arch. This Canadian side says 'Brethren dwelling together in Unity" the US side says "Children of a common mother" and there are lots of other facts one can look up but I'm surpassing my word quota for sure. Tomorrow it's back to everyday Seattle, and I hope interesting photos with fewer words. Just had to blip the American/Canadian connection for this journal once.
