The whole of Cork is decorated in red and white! Flags flutter from every house and in some places the road markings are getting red checks put onto them. Bantry is a flurry of bunting and each shop has red displays. Even St Brendan is resplendent in Cork strip! Normally St Brendan, in boat, gazes serenely out towards Bantry Bay and on to America (apparently he got there first, long before the vikings or Columbus!) Overnight he slipped into his Cork jersey! Why?? On Sunday Cork stride out to meet Down in the All Ireland Gaelic Football final and it is serious! I don't know much about normal football (soccer) but even less about Gaelic football. It seems to be a cross between football (soccer) and rugby ... there don't seem to be that many obvious rules and it's very fast and pretty ferocious! Confused? I am!
