Born on a Blue Day
Today's the day ................ that I finished reading a great book
Just finished reading a book called Born on a Blue Day by Daniel Tammet. I found it in Rob's room when I was hunting for something to read a few days ago. It is an autobiography of someone with Savant Syndrome, an extremely rare form of Asperger's that gives him almost unimaginable mental powers. The thing that makes Daniel unique however, is that he is able to communicate how his brain works and what it feels like to look at the world through his eyes.
He sees numbers as shapes, colours and textures and he can perform extraordinary maths in his head. He can also learn to speak a language fluently from scratch in a week.
He was born on 31 January 1979 - a Wednesday. He knows it was a Wednesday, because the date is blue in his mind and Wednesdays are always blue, like the number nine or the sound of loud voices arguing.
It was a fascinating book which I enjoyed reading ..................
