Change of Plans...
We were talking at work, when all of the sudden we heard the distinct sound of tires squealing and we looked and it seemed like chaos. BOOM, the sound of a car hitting the center divide, and cars hitting one another, and we watched as the red 4-door crew cab rolled right over. People running to help. There was a definite commotion by the truck. A lady, that appeared to be more of a witness/helper pulled an infant from what later we saw was a car seat, apparently hanging upside down. She cradled the child in her arms, as others helped, 'the mom' (most likely) from the truck. Our hearts raced, then dropped at the site of the tiny baby. Of course, from our perch 6 stories up, and a small set of binoculars between us, we watched, but could do nothing.
The crews were on the scene and the baby and 'mom?' were taken in the ambulance. It took a while to clean up the mess, sort out the details. This is a dangerous area. Everyday I hear tires, horns, etc. It is at the last minute, people decide they need to get on the 805 North or South, or they are heading that way, when they really need to say on the 8. I say, make your mistake and find another way back to the freeway, don't skip over lanes for fear of missing your ramp. I have seen too many accidents here.
We agreed, this one made us kinda sick. I didn't feel right after it was all said and done. It took a while to calm down. I love the car, for many reasons, but accidents can happen so fast, and change your plan, or your life or the lives of others, FOREVER.
Be safe out there folks!!!
