perth station is amazing. it's just so big and empty - and the architectural details are incredible. i just can't get over the fact that the victorians built with a 'money no object' mentality that is about as far removed from current thinking as you can imagine.

it does feel a bit like the land that time forgot. there were loads of little shops - including one of those great places where old ladies buy 'foundation garments' and the kind of chiffon scarves for keeping a hair do in place that my granny was wearing 20 years agon. there was even a shop with one of those yellow transparent screens that people pull down when it's sunny to stop things in the window fading.
