The Life of Riley..er..Rachel
Doesn't get much better than this! Besides swimming with her in the pool and lazing around in the sun, we have organized her closet and drawers, met her boyfriend for lunch, gone bowling, made contact with other friends she hasn't seen since last Spring, met and charmed a few more people she didn't know before and packed for her first ever camping trip.
I leave for home tomorrow but I leave knowing that she is in a good place with her wonderful sister and brother-in-law, that her social calendar is full and the different jobs she does at the school district she works for are meaningful and fulfilling. I know that even as she and I are both sad having to say good-bye tomorrow, she will be looking ahead to camping the very next day. I knew all of these things anyway but every year when I let her go I need this time to remind myself of how great her life is and of the fact that I am not "sending her away" I am simply letting her go.
