Raindrops on Roses

It must be Oregon! Yes, I am back home in Oregon. momsrachel and DannyBoy are home in California. Rachel got back from camp. She had a fantastic time and called me to Ichat with her so she could tell me all about it. Tomorrow is her first day back "on the job" From what I hear, her inbox is full. The special needs teachers and the speech therapists give Rachel all of their projects and learning tools that they need for the children in their classes. She cuts, pastes, laminates, sorts, staples and any thing else needed for the teachers to use with their students.

She is also needed tomorrow to work with a junior high school young man who has Autism and is being teased and called names. He, in turn, is acting out. She will have a "discussion" with his instructor in which she will be asked if she was ever teased. She will answer "Yes." She will then go on to explain how and when she is prompted she will explain how teasers like you to get angry and upset so when she learned to ignore it the teasers stop doing it. Then they will turn to the young man and ask him if he has ever experienced anything like that and how he thinks it should be handled - then, hopefully, they can get him to talk about it and begin to learn to deal with it. They call this sort of thing that she does "peer modeling".

I am very proud of her and the help she is able to give to others. I am very proud of all of my girls. Every one of them has so much to give and are in professions where they do.
