Kowhai - New Zealand's national flower

Beautiful yellow flowers of Kowhai. I don't have a lens baby, so my shots are just as it comes! I liked the blue and green setting off the rich yellow. New Zealand's native flowers tend to be not so bright, a lot of white is common, so the yellow kowhai really stands out.

Wonderfully attractive to native birds like tui, bellbird and wood pigeon, around my place we get the wax eyes, which are self introduced natives.
