Senso Ji

Went to Asakusa today, home of Senso Ji Temple, which looks a lot, to me, like a backdrop from Tekken or Streetfighter.

A knee trembling 35 degree heat with 58%humidity today, which gave me a permanent sweat moustache but Senso JI was pretty amazing despite it all. Not my favourite spot so far, mostly due to the throng of tourists and tat shops ( tokyo equivalent of Oxford Circus) but it's on the top 10 of places to visit.
I bought a bundle of incense sticks, which you light and place in a big smoke cauldron, say a prayer then waft the smoke onto you to receive it's curative powers. I might have been imagining it but I did feel a little more light hearted afterwards!
Then had a delicious lunch of ramen, chicken dumplings and beer (YUM!)
