Stone Brewing Koi

We spent the day traveling from Indio, CA to San Diego for a two day volleyball tournament. This day, however, we were in no hurry. We drove Hwy 74 out of the Coachella Valley. The Palms to Pines highway is a very twisty two-lane road that rises rapidly into the San Jacinto Mountains, then over into the Laguna Mountains, and finally down into the valleys and mesas of San Diego county.

Taking our time allowed us to find yet another great restaurant, this time in Escondidio. The Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens was the first listing on Google. Luckily we had a GPS in the car as it was not an easy place to find, but well worth the hunt. The World Gardens included an acre of ground adjacent to the restaurant (which is located in an unmarked building that could be an office save for the huge brewing vats visible through the front door). I took the requisite beer photo of course, but liked this one of the onsite Koi much better. It was very painter-like, so I enhanced it just a little with a dry brush filter in Photoshop for the result shown here.
