for the very last time ever

On the way back this afternoon I went via the scene of the slight plasticky clattering noise I heard on the way in yesterday. The first thing I spotted was the top cover, shortly after identifying the main body (both quite close to the inside of the roundabout where I'd been) followed by the batteries, which for some reason were all significantly more obviously physically fecked despite being much less plasticky and were all towards the outside of the roundabout, requiring several trips between island and verge to collect them all. Despite being intact enough to still accept fresh cells and to still snap together the light appears to not function, possibly something which might be solved by thoroughly drying it out and cleaning it but in the meantime a replacement shall be sought, preferably something which only takes two cells rather than the irritating-to-recharge three that this took. Fortunately the batteries weren't the 1000mAh ones I thought had been in there and with which the broken ones have already been replaced after correctly anticipating when walking past Maplin at lunchtime that there was a high likelihood of either finding nothing or finding something broken. At least finding it proves that I had heard a plasticky clattering noise and that I hadn't just put the light down somewhere stupid in the house.
