This would be easier...

than teaching, some days.

A colleague said to me today "I wouldn't mind, but all we are trying to do is give them an education". How true.

Our bears, lions and weapons are the words of some teenagers who think that it is acceptable to argue and challenge; the lack of support from a variety of quarters that ultimately perpetuates the myth that it is OK to argue and challenge; the rampaging hormones of young people; their lack of common sense; their irrational and impulsive behaviour.

"Get on with it" is a phrase that I have uttered many times this week.

Sometimes it has elicited the correct action or response. Other times ...well, teenagers, hormones, common sense switch set to "off"...what can I say? It makes life interesting.

But then I remind myself that the majority do the right thing, that the majority are good students, who want to try, want to progress and want to be successful, and another (different) minority come and work with me after school, share a cup of tea and a packet of biscuits over some coursework, and the world balances itself.

It balanced even more when, for the first time in a long time, I submitted to my basic urge to shout at idiots whilst driving home. Some pillock in a Porsche (a big black Porsche - never seen one like that before) jumped a red light and pulled onto the roundabout right in front of me and blocked all of the lanes, so the rest of us couldn't get around at all (3 lanes - he's blocking them all, because his lane isn't moving). Myself, and the chap behind me, eventually managed to safely swing round Small Pr*** in a big Porsche, and as I carefully crawled past him, I beeped the horn - long and hard (possibly something he is missing which is maybe why he has that car, to compensate?) - wound the window down and passed a number of comments - selfish, inconsiderate, dangerous - those are the words that I CAN repeat. Those who know me well will know the sort of language that I can't repeat. What made me laugh though was that the guy behind me, who had protected me by pulling out first and then giving me space to move, did pretty much the same thing, just louder and with hand gestures - with window down, it was a joy to hear!!! Tee hee.

A bacon butty from my beloved when I got in, a bit of retail therapy at Next, purchased two tickets to see Andrea Bocelli in November, 2 tickets to see Doctor Who Live in October, a bit of tidying and cleaning, and a warm belgian waffle with ice cream, flake and toffee sauce, and all is well in Hebs world. Even given the fact that the memory stick is still being recovered. It's going to be next week, so I have got work to re-do this weekend ready for Governors meeting on Monday. Hey ho.

Nighty night.
