All that's left...

... of the garlic we grew this summer, so we've had to start buying it from the market. Next month it will be time to plant some more.

It's hanging from an oak cupboard (cwpwrdd deuddarn, two-part cupboard in Welsh) which was made for my great-grandparents for their wedding in 1868. My parents gave it to us many years ago when we lived in Oxford, so they knew that it was going to travel, but maybe not as far from west Wales as it is now. The perhaps rather incongruous garlic, chilli peppers, paprika peppers and herbs we hang from it look good against the dark wood, I always think, even if it would have had different contents in its original home.
