Four-and-twenty Blackbirds

Well, not blackbirds, really, But half a partridge with talon attached. It was part of a rather indulgent meal that went:

Tempura battered oysters with cucumber panna cotta and caviar dressing;

Roasted confit of partridge with black pudding, chestnuts, cider fondant potatoes and brussel sprouts;

Chocolate fondant, iced banana milkshake and Galliano ice cream;

Dessert.

All very interesting: oysters splendidly garlicky, cucumber panna cotta -- I ask you! -- and the black pudding--sprouts combined surprisingly well.

The wines that you can see on the table are

Sancerre Joseph Mellot 2008
Ch Chasse-Spleen 2000

and were both good: indeed, the Médoc was outstanding.

Those who know me will be well aware that a meal such as this is exactly tailored to the medical conditions with which I live...
