Evening walk to Hartshead Pike

It was lovely to be able to go for a walk this evening. The day has stayed dry, but been a little chilly, and there will probably few opportunities over the couple of weekends to get out in the evenings, as dusk is getting earlier.

The walk to the Pike always lifts my spirits, but tonight we were treated to a beautiful sunset for our efforts. At the top, we could see the outlines of the Welsh Hills, 78 miles away.

We were walking uphill, with the sunset behind us when we heared the loud honking of geese. Four different groups of geese flew overhead in their various formations, making lots of noise. I was lucky enough to capture two of the groups in this shot.

On our way down the hill, darkness had fallen, and bats flew very close to us as we walked.
