Hill with a view (Newmains) Lennoxtown

Up early today. The boys were taking parting part in a mountain bike event with some friends. Met at a friends house in Lennoxtown and the meeting point was Celtic training ground, (what an amazing facility with breathtaking views). After hanging about there for about half an hour no officials or marshalls appeared but a boy on a bike came around the corner telling everyone registration was up the hill.........3 miles later we arrived at registration!!! Hung about registration for the kids to start only to be mucked about further by the too few officials, sending the kids the wrong way. Thinking it will get better for the older kids race they set off over 4 miles only to have to lift bikes over styles and gates that were locked, when there were perfectly good technical paths to scream along!!! P U in a brewery comes to mind! Instead of encouraging youngsters to embrace the healthy outdoor, they see what poor organisation and communication result in! On the up side it was a fantastic Autumn day with amazing scenery right on our doorstep.
Another 3 mile walk back to the cars but a fab sausage sandwich awaited, lovingly cooked by K.
