It's 4:30 am and I'm showered, dressed and pomandered, with case packed waiting for the taxi to take me to the airport for a hop over to Amsterdam to meet up with American friends who are 'doing Europe, but not Britain.

His Lordship with his all- seeing glasses is anxious to see the evening life reflected in the windows but during the day we are eager to look round the art museums.

We are going with Easy jet which is the first and maybe the last time we go with hand luggage and no seat booked.
