Fruit?
Yes - it is quince. We seem to have a very big crop this year and quite large fruit. I did take a blip of them earlier whist they were still on the bush (Chaelmoneles?? - Japanese quince) but didn't use it in the end.
Chris is taking them over to a friend this afternoon - we've done enough pickling and chutney making- don't know what he is going to use them for . Quince Jelly? Quince wine?
Our neighbour used to take them for wine making and would always give us a bottle, but it was very strange tasting, more like a rather sweet, syrupy medicine than a wine.
Still I like to think they are going to be used and not just eaten by the slugs.
