Enter Greenbottle!

For fans of The Goons will know the line is usually 'Enter Bluebottle' but I didn't find many bluebottle flies today!

I love flies. Like wasps they have such a bad press, but they're so beautiful! Especially this one, this is a blow fly (yep I know you're all put off already!) & it is 'Lucilia Caesar' & loves to feed on carrion. Did you know that in some species of flies the sexes are different colours?

I strongly believe that everything that lives, is here for a purpose, so a blow fly or wasp has as much right to be here as the cute fluffy bunny or pretty butterfly. If you just take a moment to watch them going about their day to day lives, you can learn a lot & perhaps learn to respect them & see how truly astonishing & beautiful they are! :)
