Newly hatched
On a wet and windy walk in a failed effort to find an open optician that had time to see me, I discovered a whole street of conkers. Surely one of the most exciting events in life is opening a conker from its spiky packaging and finding it whole and shiny and just the right shade of reddy brown. I filled my pockets then walked home via the French shop (for quiches and wine) while constantly turning my already knackered umbrella (see blip two days ago) the right-side up. Gah! A frustrating day, but the wine and quiches helped.
Fred and I set about putting the front room in some sort of order and took some stuff to the charity shop. I even remembered to sign the Gift Aid form.
The eye is still a wee bit sore and pink, but Fred had a good look with a bicycle light while I looked up, left, right and bottom, and there doesn't seem to be contact lens in there. I feared that there might be one lurking since I tried to take one out a couple of days ago and my fingers pinched my eye rather than lens. Where the lens is remains a mystery, but I've had one drop out before and didn't find it until days later when I stood on the now-crunchy, circular object on the bathroom floor. The soreness, I think, is caused by my pinching rather than an errant lens. I'll go to the optician tomorrow if the eye's still iffy.
