Coffee with Rachel

Our friend Rachel stopped very briefly in Northampton on her way from Brattleboro to Boston, where she's in graduate school. Her family are old friends of Sylvie Weil, and Rachel had been back home for the festival where Sylvie did her reading on Saturday.

I first met Rachel at another reading by Sylvie, in Paris in January 2009 (for the French edition of the book which just appeared here), during our French sojourn that year. Rachel had just arrived for six months of study, and we put her up for much of January while she searched for an affordable apartment--not easy! She finally found one through a friend of ours. She was a delightful and scintillating house-guest; we talked much photography, and I'm trying now to persuade her to become a blipper!
